Two-level natural stone terrace with Sitting Walls
We used granite for the stone walls on this outdoor living space. The pieces of stone are mortared in place, but the mortar is not visible so it has the appearance of dry stacked stone. The stone for the surface of the terrace itself is irregular bluestone. We left enough space between the stones to plant Creeping Thyme in the joints.
At the customers request, we incorporated an alcove into the stonewall for the gas grill to fit into. This allows for more useable space in the upper terrace.
The original plan called for just the upper raised terrace. Once the work got under way, the homeowners decided to add a second terrace on the lawn level. The lower patio was installed using the same irregular bluestone.
Now that the stone work is completed, we will work with the homeowners to design plantings around the patios.
