Hartley Bros. Landscaping, Inc. from Westfield, MA was selected to design this backyard upon completion of a new porch addition. Since the homeowners intended to use the new porch addition for entertaining, they loved the idea of an extended area to enjoy the outdoors even more. A paver patio was installed using the Brussels Block Pavers in the Sierra Blend manufactured by Unilock. This particular patio measures approximately 23 feet wide by 12 feet deep. The Sierra Blend colors were placed by the master installer to create an accent color throughout the installation. A circle medallion provides a unique centerpiece within the patio. The design included sitting walls and a counter/grill area using Brussels Dimensional Block in the Sierra Blend and Thermalled Bluestone for the counter area. Lighting enhances the evening atmosphere and featured landscaped plantings that wrap around the new porch. While the plantings provide privacy and noise reduction, a waterfall-pond feature adds to the natural setting and sounds of the countryside.
Our customer chose to save rainwater with a Rain Barrel by Algreen Products in the Cascata style to fill the pond and for supplying water to their new shrub bed plantings. The barrel’s decorative look as a clay pot was appropriately placed amongst the plantings.
